Welcome to Divas for Days!

This is a site dedicated to icons of entertainment. Their numbers are legion. We’ve heard many stories about personal tragedy or scandal. In some cases, the mythology looms larger than the artistry that brought the individual to prominence. Divas for Days is dedicated to refocusing the narrative and exploring its subject’s creativity.
Except where it seems necessary to set the record straight, you won’t find any talk here of pills or booze, proboscises, bath houses, body shape, boys who sell bagels, or ambition, blonde or otherwise.
I am endlessly inspired by the women about whom I plan to write. There will be some men in the mix, too. That inspiration takes shape here by inclusion of my version of a signature song of most of the artists I will cover.
So let’s get started at the very beginning, which I understand is a very good place to start. First up is the one and only Judy Garland.
I want to send a special thank you to my friend, Ian, who inspired me to start this site. Ian is a third culture kid from Asia with ties to China, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore. He went to American schools, so grew up speaking English. If you spoke with him, you’d never know he wasn’t from the States. American popular culture, however, was not part of his upbringing. I promised to write him a diva handbook to help him catch up. This wasn’t quite what we had in mind, but I’ll fill him in on all that other stuff offline.
